Tell us your names and what do you do on PCFH?

I’m Dave. I am the lead singer and bassist for Phone Calls From Home.

Zack is vocals and guitar and Jeff is drums.

If you could perform in any country besides the United States, what would it be and why?

I want to perform in Japan. I’ve heard kids are crazy for music there. It would be surreal to go to a completely different culture where no one speaks your language or follows your customs, but everyone in the crowd knows your words.

What’s your favorite song to perform?

My favorite song to perform recently has been “When It’s Over Now”. The song has a lot of energy and I think it’s got a lot of heart.

Why ‘phone calls from home’?

Jeff thought of it. The name has a very reminiscent and emotional feel to it. When we are on the road, sometimes lonely or depressed for some reason, it’s perfect to get a call from home. To me, home is a lot of places, so it’s pretty much just hearing from any friend I have across the country.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’ve got the day off?

The last time we had a day off in Texas, we went jet skiing with some friends in the area. If I could do that every day off we have, I’d be a pretty happy guy.

Where do you get the inspiration for your music?

I want to change to the world and the people in it. I love music, because it has the power to affect people. I’m inspired to motivate people, to change people, to save people, and to inspire people. So I want to do that through my life, through my words,  and through my music.

Who are some of your musical influences?

Blink 182, Switchfoot, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, Jack’s Mannequin, Hillsong, The Used

What’s the weirdest habit that you have?

I always bight the inside of my cheeks when I’m nervous or thinking deeply. This isn’t that weird, but it’s the only habit that I could think of because as I was thinking of a weird habit, I was doing it.

If you could record and/or play with anyone living or dead who would it be and why?

Tom Delonge. He was the reason I ever really started playing music, so it would be a mind trip to be able to play with him. I think it will happen eventually.

Pokémon or Digimon?

Pokemon always. I used to be obsessed. I wanted to be a pokemon master. I watched the shows, had the gameboy game, had pokemon snap for N64, and had the cards. I WAS A POKEMON MASTER.

One strange fact about the band?

People always think that when we are home, off tour, we hang out all of the time. But when we are home, we hardly ever see each other. We are best friends, but we spend every waking moment of our lives with each other on tour. We all have different friends and families at home so we spend the majority of our time with them.

Is there any specific goal you would like to accomplish (as a band)?

I would like to be able to make a sustainable career out of it. I would like to be relevant and known throughout the music business and throughout the world. I would like to be able to influence many people.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve received from a fan?

We never get anything too strange. I bracelet here, a batch of cupcakes there.

Where do you see PCFH in 10 years?

I see us playing still, touring still, and being happy still.

If you were never inspired to do music what do you think you would be doing right now?

I’d either own my own million dollar business, I’d be a motivational speaker, a teacher, a politician, or an economist. I still plan on doing all of that stuff eventually.
